André Verlon, painter, graphic artist, and sculptor, is regarded as one of the key figures of the European post-war avant-garde. Known for his powerful, gestural-abstractive visual language, Verlon transferred the expressive, painterly quality of his work to the medium of textile in his tapestries. The present work captivates through its dynamic composition of contrasting color fields and rhythmic linear structures. As in his paintings, form and movement merge into an energetic unity, translating the spirit of Art Informel into a tactile, corporeal dimension.
