This pouring painting from 1998 is a powerful example of Hermann Nitsch's radical combination of painting, ritual and physicality. Pouring blood and acrylic paint onto the canvas, the act of painting itself becomes an expression of ecstatic energy and existential depth. Fine rivulets emerge, leaving delicate traces. The contrast between the brown of the blood and the strong red acrylic paint is particularly striking. As a central figure of Viennese Actionism, Nitsch deliberately transcends the boundaries of traditional art. His works are not only images, but traces of lived, often painful experience. The work confronts the viewer with the physical presence of matter and the immediacy of human existence.
