The sheet, titled in translation “The Lizard with Golden Feathers,” is part of an illustrated artist’s book with a surreal text by the artist. In this late body of work, Miró develops his distinctive visual language of poetic abstraction and dreamlike metamorphoses. The hybrid figure of the “lizard with golden feathers” combines organic forms with luminous fields of color and floating signs. Image and text merge into an associative narrative oscillating between nature, myth, and the subconscious. The experimental lithographic technique emphasizes the spontaneity and expressive power of these works. A remarkable example of Miró’s late graphic oeuvre and his fusion of visual art and poetry.
