The work presented by the unmistakable hand of Drago J. Prelog shows thick horizontal red lines each equipped with sanguine vertical bars. An expressive plain of a mixture of yellows, reds and greens makes the background. While the bars must have been painted in an act of meditative concentration, the background reflects a physical engagement with the paper. The artist worked systematically from top to bottom the bottom area remains free for the background structure and to emphasize the signature. After his studies in Graz and Vienna in the end of the 1950s Drago J. Prelog created a considerable body of work of seismographic paintings that resemble abstract scores like a notation of structure or rhythm. The scriptural argument is central to his work and led to a development of its own lettering: 'Scripture is my topic, my obsession.'
