Elvira Bach's expressive and colourful (self-)portraits of women deal with all facets of femininity and its ambivalences - self-confidence and gender drama, joy and sadness, strength and irony. In 1982, she was the first woman ever to be invited to the documenta 7 art fair in Kassel and was considered a representative of the Neue Wilde at the time.
