Brigitte Thonhauser-Merk, born in 1943 in Vienna, is an Austrian painter, graphic artist, and author whose work has been visible in an international exhibition context since the 1960s. After later studies in art history, she developed an independent visual language she terms “Subrealism,” positioned between figuration and abstraction. International awards and documented auction results demonstrate the sustained relevance of her artistic practice. Women in Art is an initiative by Fürstenweg Unique Fine Art that curated this selection. Its aim is to increase the visibility of both emerging and established female artists in the art market.
