Markus Hofer transforms everyday pieces of furniture into sculptural reflections on function, balance and meaning. Two pink chairs are stacked on top of each other by their backrests, a simple yet absurd gesture that playfully blurs the boundaries between functional object and art object. Hofer, known for his humorous conceptual objects, uses familiar materials to confound perception and expectation. The ‘high seat’ ironically refers to power, elevation and perspective, while at the same time revealing the fragility of this position.
