Hans Massmann, who was a close friend of Egon Schiele and was also depicted by him in an intimate portrait, shows an idyllic, snow-covered mountain scene in his painting ‘Winter Landscape’. From 1919, Massmann was a member of the Vienna Künstlerhaus and presented his works in numerous exhibitions. His works are characterised by precise and atmospheric landscape painting, which is also expressed in this painting.
