With ‘Tu Es I’, Billi Thanner explores the aesthetics of a media-driven present in which identity and staging merge. The digital print on plastic uses the smooth, reflective surface as a symbol of a culture in which image and self merge into a performative act.
Thanner's work combines pop aesthetics, feminist strategy and conceptual clarity. The bright colours and formal rigour contrast with the ambivalence of the title: ‘Tu Es I’ is at once a confession, a call to action and an ironic commentary on the construction of authenticity in the digital age.
